some images of interest

its a leaf that looks like a tree, whats not to find interesting about that, nature playing tricks

these metal head drawings by Steven Shearer are drawn with crayon, need to get back on crayon, perfect when smudged with linseed oil.

i started using mouths a lot in work while i was traveling, it has become the first thing i draw and images and ideas develop from there. i think its because it feels like teeth are the most intricate contrasting exposed part of the body. collage at large.

ive become fond of using speech bubbles in my work to bring images together, often the words used are spelt wrong and are a so called 'stream of consciousness' so often irrelevant to the subject. i like the simplicity of this character

i enjoy photographs or stills from film that i think would make good drawings or paintings, i use a lot of fleshy colors in my work and feel the best way to bring together creams reds and pinks is with black. i like the framing of this photograph, because its through police officers legs trying to prevent the event being documented, was shot dead and run over twice by riot italian riot police.

unknown photographer, this portrait is of a local called ken, i served john smiths to him for near on 3 years on and off, he showed me a collection of haunting photographs he had taken while in borneo in 1965, he asked me not too show any of them on the internet but rather to use them in my art. this is one of a few photographs of him looking happy at war.

Jenny Saville describes the day she found a carcass as one of the most romantic days of her life. i can relate to this, the combination of being curious to see how being in the presents of death makes me feel and the focused interest in the appearance of flesh an bone. i really enjoy unfamiliar textures

Maria Moehnaez, the sort of image that you look at and wish you had thought of first, simple idea made so effective. haunting

M.C.Escher has been an illustrator thats fascinated me from a very young age, i enjoy this image because character looks mental and as he appears to be running free from his mental asylum falling into a pattern that in turn builds the structure he's running out of. amazing.

photo by patrick tsai, Beijing's disneyland rip off, left derelict, this image appeals to me because i like the involvement of basic man made shapes brightly colored, with darker living shapes of nature.
